Union Square

Union Square Station serves as the terminus of the Green Line's Union Square Branch, which officially opened on March 21, 2022, as part of the Green Line Extension (GLX) project. Situated on Prospect Street, just south of the Union Square intersection, Union Square Station is fully accessible with elevators and ramps, and has accommodations for up to 120 bicycles.

Union Square is a focal point for several MBTA bus routes, providing vital connections to neighboring communities and transit lines:
Route 85: Connects Spring Hill to Kendall/MIT Station via Summer Street and Union Square.
Route 86: Runs between Sullivan Square Station and Reservoir (Cleveland Circle) via Harvard/Johnston Gate.
Route 87: Links Arlington Center or Clarendon Hill to Lechmere Station via Somerville Avenue.
Route 91: Operates between Sullivan Square Station and Central Square via Washington Street.
Route CT2: Provides service from Sullivan Square Station to Ruggles Station via Kendall/MIT.
